Question: Hi, I have a mouth sore, which had started when I accidentally bit my cheek while eating a hard sweet. Generally such small bites go away quickly for me, without any treatment. But this time, it has turned into a mouth sore, which doctor says has got infected. I am having trouble speaking and eating because of this, as it is adjacent to the top teeth. Doctor had prescribed Metronidazole 200 mg, Becelac and Supradyn for 3 times a day for 4 days. He had also advised a stool and blood test. Blood test report is normal. Stool test report is also normal, says Pus Cells: 0-1 /HPF. Doctor had advised me to take a single tablet Albendezole today/tomorrrow (I have not yet used it though). I consulted another doctor and she had asked me to use an Antibiotic too named Cefpodoxime Proxetil (GudCef-200) morning and night for 5 days. She said that using the Antibiotic will help to show reduction in the infection by today night itself. Wanted to get your opinion whether it is important to take an Antibiotic also for my problem. Please advise.
