Question: How would i know if my gallbladder is working correctly? I have what I think is indigestion. Ive had it for about a week. It came on suddenly last Thursday with extreme pain in my chest area. The pain subsided after about 10-15 min but ive been bloated, acid reflux and a light pain in my chest, shoulder area that comes and goes. I feel like i need to belch and can't.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms because of acid reflux.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

Your gallbladder would give you jaundice in case it wouldn't work. And from the symptoms you are describing, it seems like working.
Your symptoms seem more related with stomach, and more precise with acid reflux.
My recommendations are:
- Have a healthy diet, with lots of fruits and vegetables, and by avoiding greasy and spicy foods.
- Eat small amounts and often.
- Eat at least 4 hours before sleeping.
- Raise slightly the head of the bed, so the reflux would be less.
- Take an antiacid in between meals if discomfort and also a PPI (Omeprazole 20mg, or Lansoprazole 15 mg, or Pantoprazole 40mg) once/day before food.
- An abdominal ultrasound will rule out if the discomfort is related with hiatal hernia, with gallbladder stones or with any other problems.

If worse or not better, I would recommend seeing a local doctor.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako
