Suggest Treatment For Indentation On Forehead

Posted on Mon, 5 Jan 2015
Question: A few months ago I underwent a cosmetic procedure on my forehead (fractura and facetite). That area was very sensitive for 3-4 months. Pain is now gone but there is now a dent in my forehead! How can this have happened, and how can this be fixed. I am a cyclist and I have never had a dent as far as I know in my skull! The surgeon who performed the procedure suggested a fat transplant with risk of going blind, but I stated to him this feel like it is my skull that is dented and not a fat issue. A definite dip I have never felt before fat or no fat! What next, how risky?

Brief Answer:
Plastic surgical repair is a low risk option here...

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question.

I am very sorry that this happened to you. I can not imagine how you could have gotten a dent in your skull from a forehead cosmetic procedure, but I am glad that you are getting the CT scan to evaluate that. It is most likely that the dent is from an irregular build up of scar tissue.

A fat transplant is one option, but that is a low risk procedure and I do not think that blindness is a complication.

I would seek the opinion of a qualified plastic surgeon for another opinion about repair of the area. Good luck to you.
