Suggest Treatment For Increased PSA Level

Question: Hi!
My father had his prostate removed in March 2004 after he was diagnosed with cancer XXXXXXX score was 6 and PSA before the surgery was 6,4.In 2007 his PSA levels kept growing and doctors decided to have therapy with x rays and hormonotherapy aswell..PSA went down and then started going up slowly until it reached 0,20 and in March 2013 started hormonotherapy again for 1 year. He went to the doctor in May and his PSA was very very small and his next appoitment is in 30th September..I am very worried for the results and my question is what if PSA starts growing again does it mean that hormonotherapy did not work? Is there anything else anywhere we could get him where new treatments are better? I forgot to mention his age..Today he is 67..
Thanks in advance

Brief Answer:
Keep monitoring Serum PSA .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your father has been diagnosed to have cancer of the prostate .He has been treated with Radiotherapy and hormonal therapy and his serum PSA levels are well within normal range suggesting that his cancer is controlled very well.

However the cancer prostate has tendency to develop resistance to hormonal therapy after few years hence one has to monitor his PSA levels at frequent intervals of every three months .

In a present scenario of well controlled disease there is no need to be aggressive and just to observe his serum PSA levels.

In case if the PSA starts raising he may need to be treated with chemotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
