Question: I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and presently take 50 mcg of synthroid (levothyroxine sodium). Does this mean I have hoshimotos disease.

Yes, the most common cause of hypothyroidism is Hashimoto thyroiditis. To confirm it you need to check antiTPO and antiTg antibodies.
Hypothyroidism due to iodine deficiency of amiodarone use are rare.
