Brief Answer:
About hypothyroidism treatment;

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!

You are right, hyperthyroidism (caused even by overdosage of levothyroxine) is one of the causes of osteoporosis or can aggravate it.

There is only one treatment for hypothyroidism, replacement with t4 or t3.

T4 (Levothyroxine) is safer in treating hypothyroidism, it has a longer half-life and can maintain more stable hormonal balance.

So, in your case, whether hyperthyroidism or overdosage should be avoided, levothyroxine (Synthroid) is the best treatment for hypothyroidism.

Please keep monitoring TSH once in 6 months to be sure that the dose is correct.

Hope the information will help. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
