Suggest Treatment For Hypothyroidism And Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

Question: Hi Doctor,
I have hypothyroid. It actually started with hyper and gradually changed to hypo condition. The anti- TPO was tested to be very high (1300) and my doctor called it hashimotos. I was under constant checks and regular supply of 75mcg thyronorm was suggested for me. But then, someone suggested me that there is a permanent cure for this in homeopathy and I consulted a doctor. Doctor even promised me to bring thyroid back to normal within 6 months. It is more than 6 months now, the doctor has been successful in bringing down the dosage to 50 mcg 4 days a week and 25 mcg for the other 3 days along with some homeopathy. But the TSH keeps fluctuating : one month it is under control, the next month it is out of range. Do you think I should continue to try homeopathy or get back to allopathy medicines? Is there a permanent cure for hashimotos in homepathy? Could you please advice?

Brief Answer:
primary hypothyroidism.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi! welcome to HCM. I am Dr. XXXXXXX , Thyroid specialist. Hashimoto's thyroiditid is the most common cause of primary hypothyroidism. In this the patient goes through thyroid fluctuation initially, from hyperthyroid to hypothyroid. Finally settles with hypothyroidism in 90% cases. so , what you have gone through is not very unusual. Now as of homeopath or ayurveda, I am not the right person to comment. Talking about allopathy, yes, Thyroxine i.e. the hormone which is required by our body and is no longer being synthesized in your thyroid gland now , needs to be given from outside. Dose can be anything depending upon your requirement. It need not vary as of 50 one day and 25 another day. It has to be same depending upon your body weight to start with. for e.g. if you are between 60kg -80 kg you must be on 75 mcg every day. you must take it empty stomach, and should not take anything over the tablet for another 30 -45 minutes.
with this plan continue thyroxine for 6 weeks and then check your TSH and FT4 levels.
regards!
