Question: On US today I have 2 of these hypoechoic-heterogeneous-lesion-uterus. One of them is in the myometrial area. I have been waking up with abdominal bloating from diaghram to pelvis for months. I need something done. I would like the uterus taken out. Are there any other tests I should have done?

Brief Answer:
need further information

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
In my opinion if the fibroid is asymptomatic then no need to worry about that.
But before giving you a opinion on hysterectomy and any further tests I would like to know:-
1)Have you reached menopause or not?
2)Do you have any symptoms like pain abdomen or excessive bleeding during or between the periods?
3)If not reached menopause when was your last period?
3)How many years of marital life?
4)How many children?
5)Have you undergone screening for pap smear?
6)Are you sexually active?
7)Any complaints like abnormal vaginal discharge or postcoital spotting ?
Kindly provide me the information for further discussion.
Looking forward to hear from you.

Yes I have reached menopause. I have pelvic pain with bloating. No bleeding. Married 15 years. I have had 1 child. I just had a pap smear and it was negative. I am sexually active with my husband and have no spotting or discharge. I ffeel miserable. It feels like I am getting ready to have a period but that never happens.

If these are fibroids I thought they were suppose to shrink at my age. I had 1 when I was younger and now I have 2.

Brief Answer:
D&C might be helpful

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

I got your information.

In my opinion, you don't have any symptoms suggestive of cervical or endometrial carcinoma. Though fibroids are seen in ultrasound they are not causing any symptoms and malignant transformation of fibroid is a rare entity.
Endometrial thickness of 3mm is normal in menopause. Thickness >4mm is abnormal and suggests some endometrial pathology.
So as of now there is no absolute indication for hysterectomy in your case.
But as you have family history of cancer you might need regular follow up with pap smear and dilatation and curettege(D&C). Pap smear is for cervical cancer and D&C for uterine cancer.

D&C is a simple procedure where in the endometrium is scraped and tissue is sent for histopathological examination.

You need not worry about that. The bloating and pelvic pain might be due to some pelvic infection or Urinary tract infection.

You might need a course of antibiotics. Urinary infections are quite common in menopause.
Drink plenty of fluids to prevent urinary infections.

Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to ask any more queries.
Best regards...Dr srilatha
