Brief Answer:
High blood pressure usually do not have underlying cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for your question.
Noted your concern.

There may be following reason for increased blood pressure in your case-
1) Essential hypertension:
- There is no underlying cause for high blood pressure.
- Family history of Hypertension is usually present.
2) As a part of insulin resistance:
- Abnormal blood sugar level is a part of insulin resistance syndrome.
- High blood pressure is also a part of insulin resistance.
3) Complication of diabetes:
- Possibility of it is rare with diabetes of 3 year duration.
- Due to diabetic nephropathy there may be high blood pressure.
4) Endocrine cause:
- Possibility of which is ruled out in your case by doing basic lab investigations
like Thyroid profile, cortisol, electrolytes.

So instead of thinking about causes of raised blood pressure it is always better to keep it under control.
Usual target for blood pressure in diabetic patients is Systolic BP <140 & Diastolic BP <90.

Regular exercise, dietary restriction of salt and baking powder containing products, high intake of green leafy vegetables and fibers and following regular medicines as advised by your doctor are important in keeping blood pressure and sugar under control.

Timely follow up with your treating doctor is advisable.

Hope this helps you.

Dr. Abhay Mali.
