Suggest Treatment For Honey Bee Sting On Feet

default
Posted on Fri, 26 Dec 2014
Question: Hello Doctor
I was bitten by a honeybee/wasp 4-5 days back on feet. At that time, I removed the visible sting and applied some cream/oil. At that time, the pain and itching subsided after 30 minutes. But since yesterday, the itching has started again. And it's quite intense this time.
Also, there is some reddish area around the spot of bite.
Please suggest what medical treatment should be done in this case. Thanks!!

Brief Answer:
you are having allergic inflammation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

In my opinion you are having local allergic inflammatory reaction. Whenever there is honeybee sting, it eject some fluid in the skin.
This fluid causes inflammatory reaction in 2 phases.
1. Acute reaction
2. Late phase reaction.
So after 5 days of bite what you are experiencing is late phase reaction.

The treatment of this is as follows.
1. Antihistamine and anti allergic drug combination twice a day.
2. Anti inflammatory and pain killer combination twice a day.
3. Moisturising cream on local site thrice daily.
4. Avoid scratching of the affected part.
No need to worry much. You will be alright in 5 days by above mentioned treatment. If your symptoms are severe, you can visit your local doctor who can prescribe the aforementioned drugs.

Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
