Question: Hi, I just noticed some rash on my 4 years old son this morning. There wasn't anything lastnight. He had a cold, bad cough, ear infection, and eyes virus and put on antibiotics since last week's. And now the rash come up. Since it is Sunday, I have to wait till tomorrow to have him check along with my newborn appointment. since I have a 2 weeks old newborn at home, I need to know whether it spread or not. Here are some pictures of the rash. Some tiny and not red, some are. And he did play with some goldfish since 2 days ago. I don't know if it have anything to do with it.

Brief Answer:
Oral antihistamine and Calamine; could be viral exanthem or drug eruption

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have viewed the images.
I can see red welts.
This seems like urticaria or hives. This could be because of the oral antibiotics or it could be due to his viral upper respiratory infection. I would suggest that antibiotic be stopped if he has no fever.
I would suggest an oral antihistamine e.g either cetrizine 5mg/5ml or loratadine 5mg/5ml for the rashes. Topically he may use a soothing lotion e.g calamine lotion.
