Question: Hello Doctor

I contacted you for Hives on hand on 25th Oct 2015. Now I think the same is developed on both the ears yesterday since morning. I dont know again which food item caused it.

Is it hives?

I have currently taken Allegra 120mg and applied calamine. Its there since yesterday morning. Pictures are attached. Let me know what to do?

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have read your query and I have also reviewed the Images.

I would like to know how is the response to Allegra? and is it itchy Or painful? Is it on both ears? Do you also have fever? Is it localised to just ears or is it also spreading elsewhere?

Regards

I would like to know how is the response to Allegra? Just took it once yesterday, it the same as the image but less itching, felt itching during night. At the moment itching is very less, I dont know whether there is some improvement as it looks the same to me.

is it itchy Or painful? Not painful but itching..

Is it on both ears? Yes

Do you also have fever? No

Is it localised to just ears or is it also spreading elsewhere? just to both the ears

I realised it on 22nd morning. Last time you gave me the below course:

pantoprazole 40 mg before breakfast

Tablet Defza 30 mg after breakfast
loratadine 10 mg morning - evening
critizine evening
Calamine 4-5 times a days

Is it Hives Doctor? Why is it happening again and again to me. It has never happened earlier in the past.

Brief Answer:
Perniosis Or Sun induced allergy

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Thank you for details.
This could be due to cold weather (perniosis) Or may be due to sun induced allergy. Helix of ears are the most exposed part and are very prone to develop swelling and itching due to cold (perniosis).
Hives as a possibility is unlikely because of localised involvement and because the condition has persisted beyond 24 hours. Hives usually resolve within a few hours.
I would suggest you to use a topical moderately potent steroid cream e.g Momate-F cream, twice daily, at affected sites.
You may continue with Allegra tablets.
Protect yourself from sun and from exposure to cold.

Regards
