Question: My brother is having trouble with his blood pressure. His Dr put him on 40 mg of lisinipril. It was helping his blood pressure til about two days ago. His pressure went up to 170/103. He went to urgent care. They said it was heat related and stay home. It is still high at 160/92. He has a Dr appointment on Tuesday and doesn't know if it is safe to wait til then or go back to work before then.

Brief Answer:
Not safe to leave him with high blood pressure

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It will be better if in ER they give your brother some temporary medication, such as Amlodipin or diuretic together with Lisinopril until his appointment. It is not safe to leave him with elevated blood pressure.

Take care
