Suggest Treatment For High Alkaline Phosphatase Levels

Posted on Wed, 9 Nov 2016
Question: My last question asked about repeated high alkaline phosphatase levels with a normal bone scan and kidney function test results, Dr Sanghvi recommended a complete liver function test and an abdominal ultrasound. Once these additional tests are completed and are unremarkable, what diseases could cause the repeated above average Alk Phos levels?

Brief Answer:
There are many other causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

Most of the time it indicates liver disease, bone disease, intestinal disease and parathyroid disease.

But most common causes are liver and bone disease. So we have to investigate that first.

If these all are normal then other causes like hyperparathyroidism, diabetes, ulcerative disease of GI tract, drugs therapy or nonspecific causes may be there.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic.
Wish you a very good health.
