Question: Hello doctor,
I have attached the latest report done for my mother (66 years) . Our local doctor has advised that since the reports are on the higher side , she had been advised higher dosage
Her SGOT report is slightly higher .
Tab Glycifit G1 -
Dosage : 1 tablet at the morning
Tab Mactor 10
Dosage : 1 tablet at night
In view of the above we are really confused , as to how to lead a healthy lifestyle to attain normal results irrespective of doing so much physical activities and total diet control. What more is recommended.
My mom is tense and simply refuses to go for a RISC test , which I had read in papers will give a complete risk assessement of a Diabetic patient .
Pls advise .
Brief Answer:
Need a little adjustment, no need to be tensed.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, Hi! i have gone through the reports of your mother. she is having uncontrolled diabetes, which is affecting liver. her total and LDL cholesterol are also high. but believe me nothing to panic. she needs a little adjustment of medications.
1. she needs to add some thing like DPP4 inhibitor in her antidiabetic regimen.
2. she needs to increase the dose of statin to 40 mg.
3. her kidney functions are good.
4. she needs one more test for TSH and FT4.
kindly do this much and let me know her fasting and post meals sugar after one week of changing the treatment.
continue glycifit 1 in the morning before breakfast, add Jalra M 50 /500 or Janumet 50 /500 twice a day before breakfast and before dinner. increase mactor to 40 mg at night after dinner. check her TSH and FT4 . let me know thyroid report. after 7 days of changing treatment, recheck fasting and pp and inform us. continue lifestyle changes and diet restriction. regards!
Thanks doctor for your prompt reply
i will try to follow ur suggestions .
But one thing , the existing doctor had told Mactor dosage to be confined to 10 mg dosage ( 1 tablet a day ) only as her liver report is not so gud.
What is statin ? What is it for ?
Brief Answer:
Statin is what mactor has.
Detailed Answer:
mactor is atorvastatin. liver is affected with fatty infiltration so mactor will help in this case. and not harm. also we will be building the dose for a short time say 6 weeks till LDL -c comes normal.
