Brief Answer: Re-check / Tests / Follow up Detailed Answer: Dear friend, Welcome to Health Care Magic The range for the upper figure (Systolic) is 90 to 140 mm Hg. The range for the lower figure (Diastolic) is 60 to 90 mm Hg. Check it again… on a few more occasions. Because, treatment is to prevent long term complications… and it is lifelong… Have base line investigations – ECG ECHO, Lab tests like Kidney, Lipids, Electrolytes.. Start with lifestyle modifications - reduce salt intake and saturated fats… / regular exercise like walking – 30 minutes a day at least 5 days in a week / relaxation techniques like yoga… Have regular follow up. If the pressure is still high (90 diastolic), her doctor may start on drugs… usually an ARB (Angiotensin Receptor Blocker) or ACEI (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor) is the first choice…. There are several classes of drugs and several drugs in each class; and the dose to be tailored to the individual.. Prognosis is very good in general… Good luck Take care Wishing all well God bless

Brief Answer: Relax / No emergency / Detailed Answer: Hi Yes / Check 3 to 4 times more 130 is normal 90 is not / 90 is 'pre-hypertension' / 'high normal' / 'early' - if persisting, start medicine Pressure itself does not cause uneasiness - may be anxiety? The examining doctor is better placed to assess... Already mentioned the tests - ECG / ECHOcardiography / Blood tests for Kidney (urea, creatinine); Electrolytes (Sodium, potassium), Lipids (LDL & HDL Cholesterol, Triglyceride)... At times, USG (scan-UltraSonoGraphy) for kidneys, Stress ECG (treadmill) are done... Regards

But y so many tests ? Kidney function test is related to this ?

Brief Answer: Related for sure Detailed Answer: Hi Kidney is the commonest cause for raised pressure... Kidney is a target organ - BP may damage (Others are Brain, Heart and Eye) ECHO & ECG will show - whether the heart is affected / also form a baseline for future comparison At age less than 40, more tests are done to find any treatable cause for the condition... it is cumbersome and not cost effective, but - basic minimum given above - is the standard and state of the art. Regards

Brief Answer: Detailed answers below - Detailed Answer: The other ways are life style modifications – diet, exercise and relaxation techniques We are not treating the cause…which is usually genetic… therefore, we have to treat lifelong If high, check after one week If it is staying at 90 or going up, on three or more occasions, start medicine Reducing salt is the prime diet modification / maintaining ideal weight is next / avoiding fats reduces other risks There is no wonder or magic that can be done Exercise can be done now /no problem / regular isotonic exercise – like walking or jogging No need for completes bed rest The medicine will be prescribed by her doctor – there are several classes and several drugs in each class Relaxation methods can be learnt by Psychological assessment and assistance
