Suggest Treatment For Herpes Simplex Infection

default
Posted on Fri, 31 Mar 2017
Question: I have had herpes simplex 1 (not genital) for years. The outbreaks are always on my mouth and nose. Now I am experiencing itching and tingling on the entire left side of my face and head. Even my eyes itch but I do not see any outbreaks.
I have taken 500 mg of Valtrex for 2 days but am worried the medicine will damage my kidneys.
I Could this be shingles?
Should I go see my internist, ophthalmologist or dermatologist
Thanks for any guidance XXXXX
