Suggest Treatment For Hepatitis-A Infection
Question: I was told yesterday that I have hepatitis A is there a treatment for this?

Hepatitis in general means inflammation of the liver.Hepatitis A is a self limiting infection and most people make complete recovery in a week or two.There is no specific treatment needed for hepatitis A. It is usually a self-limiting illness as told earlier, which means it usually goes away on its own. Your immune system will normally clear away the infection. Treatment generally involves supportive care.Patient is managed symptomatically.Treatment is aimed at relieving your symptoms.Nausea and vomiting are treated with antiemetics. Adequate fluid should be taken to prevent dehydration.A low fat and high carbohydrate diet is usually advocated.Please mention your symptoms,In case you are a symptomatic you can take normal home cooked low fat vegetarian diet.Complications are very rare in hepatitis A.

did you even read the comments I wrote you addressing the fact that I have psoriasisoriadic arthritis that I take Embril epipen weekly? I have had 1 heart attack 2 strokes I am currently taking: topiramate 100mg for neuropathy in my legs simastain 40mg heart med effient 10mg lisinipril 10mg oxycod/apap 10-325mg tab pain bupropion 150mg Sr tab Voltaren gel Daliresp 500mcg tab flexril 10mg I also have hardened artery disease I have 3 heart stints and if you don't believe me or not I have around 90 stints through out every time they put 1 in my artery would collapse. I have done some research since I asked this question I had the blood draw on 3/2 & supposedly it will last 6 weeks & we can not tell @what week I am @ should I do the vaccine treatment? with all the drugs I am on? I do not have the name of the vaccine to check for the interaction chart on this site. I also worry about my son who lives with me he should be checked also. I am also a cook how long in your opinion should I stay out of the kitchen?

I have gone through all your details as mentioned by you previously.
As i already told you hepatitis A is a self limiting infection of liver and very rarely causes complications.
As per your history you have got 3 stents in your arteries for which you are taking statins(hepatotoxic),but due to overlapping cardiac condition its not advisable to stop statins for hepatitis A.Better way is to get a liver function test done every 5 days and if SGPT and SGOT are deranged three times the normal value then we can consider lowering the dose of statin.
Embril again is hepatotoxic but is essential.After having one heart attack and 2 strokes with three cardiac stents its not at all advisable to lower doses of cardiac drugs due to minor ailment like hepatitis A.
vaccine biovac A can be taken once every 6 month 2 shots its about 90% effective and provide immunity for 15 year,But it will only prevent future infection.
After 6 weeks of initial diagnosis HAV antibody test should be repeated.
HAV is contagious fecoral route is the most common route,Avoid direct contact with you son and keep out of the kitchen till you are HAV antibody negative.
As off now just repeat your Liver function tests,Just because you have HAV does not means that we should put you off other important cardiac medications.
Vaccine can be taken by you for future prevention.
