Question: Had bicycle accident two weeks ago. Have hematoma upper inner thigh. Heavy bruising down to my knee front and back. Bruising about gone but a golf ball sized raised area remains that is fairly hard . Am going out of the country for three weeks soon and was concerned that problems may result from this injury. What if any complications if any might arise.

Brief Answer:
Due to haematoma which might get fibrosed or calcified.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

From description , this hard lump most probably formed due to haematoma formation (collection of blood) which might get fibrosed or calcified.
It will take few weeks to months to get disappear.

I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination of swelling. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.
Meanwhile give hot fomatation over it, You can take Tablet Motrin 1 tablet with food as and when required (upto 4 tablets daily).

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care

There was no penetration of the skin so would I be correct in thinking that an infection should not occur? Are there any other complications that I should worry about in the next 4-6 weeks?
