Suggest Treatment For Heavy Periods

Question: I have been on continuous Zovia birth control (3 months on, then a withdrawal bleed) for over a year. I am currently experiencing a very frustrating period. Despite taking 4 days of active pills, at the exact same time, I am still passing clots/tissue the length of my little finger after several hours of no bleeding. What can I do to calm my period down or get it to stop?

Hello
Good day and welcome to health care magic
As you have periods once in 3 months, the endometrium which was formed, sheds down during the periods. What you feel like clot may be blood + parts of endometrium. It is normal to pass 80-100 ml blood during each cycle of period. If you change more than 6-7 heavily soaked pads, then probably you are having heavy periods. Have you had your thyroid blood works done? I hope your clotting parameters are normal.
If you think you are having a heavy periods, you may require a pill called tranexamic acid for couple of days. You may have to meet your gynecologist and discuss.
They may run cuple of blood tests like Thyroid profile, clotting profile and platelet count to see if there are other causes of heavy periods.
