Posted on Fri, 2 Jan 2015
Question: For the passed 6 months i have been experiencing heavy palpitations everyday. At rest sometimes it feels like my whole body rocks with every heartbeat and i can see my pulse pulsating in my stomach and arm. My baseline pulse rate in the afternoons is 95 at rest. I have have an echocardiogram which did not see anything abnormal. I have also had a blood test to check thyroid and this is ok. Can you advise at what could be causing this and give me a list of things I need to ask my doctor to check.

Brief Answer:
Stress test/Holter monitoring to run/GERD to rule out....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

You are reporting to have run thyroid test and ECG and everything was ok. I advise to run further tests including:
- stress test
- Holter monitoring

You can discuss this with your doctor.

Acid reflux/GERD is also to be considered and evaluated by upper endoscopy.

For the moment, I'd advise to implement healthy diet and lifestyle regimen:
- avoid alcohol, spicy/chilly/oily foods/chocolate
- eat often, small portions and chew up slowly
- do not lay down immediately after eating

Hope it was of help!
