Question: hi, I get headaches like shooting pains, and my nose gets blocked. When I blow my nose its dry blood. I don't get a nosebleed as such, it's just there when I blow my nose. The headaches can last for a few days. I am 7yrs post renal transplant, which has caused high blood pressure and diabetes. Thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
dry airways with sinuses congestion

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and I understand your concern. Dry upper airway and congestion is common in people with diabetes and hypertension as the medications used for them mostly cause it.dryness of mouth and upper airways including nasal passage is the commonest etiology of such complaints.

For the prevention of blood all you need to do is stop forcing the nose by blowing it. Blood vessels in the nasal septum gets ruptured causing blood due to severe blowing of nose.

Congestion of nose is due to sinuses blockage as dryness of airways causing thickness of mucus plugs and they cause chronic sinuses congestion. All you gotta do is drink plenty of fluids, Irrigate your nose with saline water as much as possible, use humidifier in the living and bed room and avoiding dry air and last but not the least avoiding allergens to prevent any hypersensitivity or allergies as that will worsen the case.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
