Question: I recently noticed some extra hair fall, when I keep my hair little long. I would like to understand if keeping/maintaining hairs really short (almost bald / level 1 on hair trimmer) for sometime (maybe 6 months) reduce hair fall? Also, what is a good hair oil in the market which would help me to reduce hair fall? And how long should I wait before I shampoo my hair, after applying oil. Also, is there a way to improve thickness of hair?

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thank you for posting on HCM.

I will answer your query point by point.

1. Yes keeping hair short definitely reduce the chances of hair fall.
Long hair are more likely to break from traction acting on them while combing, sleeping, shampooing, oiling etc.

2. The market is flooded with hair oil brands claiming big results but in real none of them are actually proven to give results in scientific way in clinical trials.
Clinical trials have shown beneficial effects of using coconut oil once or twice a week as it provides nourishment to hair roots. Thus I would suggest you to go for simple coconut oil application twice a week. Also make sure you apply oi with gentle finger tips without any massage.

3. Ideally people apply hair oil at night and wash it off in morning.

4. To increase thickness of hair I would suggest you a course of oral multivitamins specifically designed for hair nourishment. You can take one tablet of FOLLIHAIR New daily after lunch for 3-4 months.

Use gentle shampoo and conditioner to wash your hair. (X-gain shampoo).

Take plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.

Hope your queries are resolved.
