default
Posted on Wed, 20 Aug 2014
Question: I have pea-size growths inside of my labia-mainly on one side. The usually don't hurt but other times they tend to swell a bit and are hot to the touch.
I would like to know what i have, if i should be worried, and what i can do about it.

Brief Answer:
detailed answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

It seems that you have bartholins cysts. These are cysts that occur in glands present just near the labia and occur due to blocking of their ducts.

If they get infected then they become tender and hot called a bartholins abscess.
Another possibility are vaginal wall cysts and sebaceous cysts of the sweat glands.

There is no need to worry as these are very common. I would advise a gynec examination to know the exact type of the cyst. Treatment is use of antibiotics if there is infection and then mostly usually removing it in all the three cases and is a minor procedure.

Hope this satisfies your query.
