Suggest Treatment For Greyish Discoloration On The Toes

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Nov 2016
Question: i went a couple months for a pedicure. Since it was summertime I had some bright red polish put on. After several weeks as the polish was wearing off I discovered that one toe (second one in from the baby toe) was dark gray. Its been quite awhile now and there is no change.....still a dark shade of grey. The nail seems to be in tact. All other toes are ok. What's going on???

i never received your coments although i see i've already been charged.

Brief Answer:
Kindly upload the picture

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for posting your query in HealthCare Magic,

I have read through your query carefully, and I would like to know a few more details related in order to help you more,
- do you happen to remember any sort of recent trauma to your toes like hitting, or wearing tight shoes?
- is there any discharge or fowl smell associated?

It would be better if you could upload a picture so that I can get a better look at it.

If you do not experience pain or any of the above symptoms, it is not anything to get worried about, as the normal cause for a discoloration of nails is any recent minor trauma which may develop a hematoma within the nail which will subside on its own.

Fungal infection may be another cause, but you will experience pain, discharge and foul smell associated. In that case, you are required to consult with a dermatologist and will be prescribed with anti fungal medications and is curable.

Another rare condition is melanoma, which may require further evaluation and management.

Kindly upload a clear image of the affected toe. Which will help me diagnosing accurately.
Awaiting your response.
