Suggest Treatment For Gastritis
Question: Dear Doctor,
My wife have pain and too much gases and the doctor told us it is gastritis. Yesterday she did occult blood test and it is positive , but we repeat it again today and it is negative , I read that we have to repeat at least 3 times because it would be Intermittent if there is tumor, so how many times shall i repeat ?? and how long time before each test ? and if all come negative shall I not consider the first positive one?? or shall we do more investigations ?? and what is the reasons for the blood ?? last the doctor advise her for LANZOR 30MG sio if she will take that will it affect the occult blood test result?? thanks in advance.

You have to repeat occult blood test after a couple of days. Just remember that eating meat 2-3 days before test may result a positive test. This is why it's important to avoid eating meat 2-3 days before repeating test.
If the test result negative you shouldn't considered the first test (especially if you have consumed meat products before it). However is important to do abdominal ultrasound and blood work.
The reason for a positive blood may be due to meat products consumed 2-3 days before test or due to gastrointestinal problems. However positive occult blood tests are reported in patient taking lansoprazole.
