Suggest Treatment For Frequent Urination

Question: I don't really know if I got urine retention...... I have been having episodes where it takes my urine to come. I will wake up in the morning and sometimes it takes a while to get my urine going. Only so little will come out then when I walk around for a couple of min if comes faster. I get nervous and this really holds up the process... I went to the er Sunday morning and I couldn't empty my bladder and they used a catheter. Ten mins later I urinated on my own. I Just sit on the toilet and wait until I urine like every give min...... I am a person that don't drink a lot and I'm on medication bp that has a water pill inside so it makes me pee more than normal. I don't have pain other than that. I Just empty my bladder and it still feels like Ichabod to go and when I do it only be a small amount,and that might be because I do let my bladder get full. I keep going to the toilet and sitting on it until I urinated... any idea :-)

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have urge to pass urine frequently and had to be catheterized once to empty the bladder.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have urgency to pass urine ?
2) Is there any pain in lower part of abdomen when you have urge to pass urine ?

The symptoms that you have are mostly due to what is called as Over Active Bladder syndrome.(OAB).

Under normal circumstances one gets desire to pass urine when bladder is filled with 250-3000 ml of urine however in OAB there are involuntary contractions of bladder of a small magnitude even when it is filled with small quantity of urine that cause urge to pass urine and forces the person to go toilet.

This needs to be confirmed by a test what is termed as Urodynaemic study of bladder .

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and get following basic
tests done under his guidance to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Urodynaemic study of bladder.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

If proved to be positive you will need to take medication like Darifenacin once daily
which helps to reduce the small involuntary contractions of bladder which helps to give relief from symptoms .

Yes I does feel like I have to urinate after I Just go sometimes. I don't have any pain. I had an opened book pelvis fracture in 2006. There have been times when on couldn't urinate the way I needed to and I would drink a hAlf of bottle of water and then I would urinate six times back to back. There will be days when I per a lot without any problems and then there are days it get like this. Could this be urine retention..... I spoke with a nurse on the phone and she said Uribe retention was when u can empty a full bladder,along with large quantities off urine and pain
I want to mention that I'm 32

The retention of urine is always associated with pain in lower abdomen and large quantity of urine when drained by catheterization.

You can have a trial of the drug which I have mentioned in my reply earlier before going for test of Urodynaemic study.

My last question doc... when I went to the er.... I had a good quantity,but it was an accumulation of six to seven hours with a few drop the come out. That medication has to be prescribed by a physician? I performed a urinary tract infection text and it has traces of and infection. It turned light purple. Could this be a blockage. But when my urine is strong it comes normal....... my last concern
