Suggest Treatment For Fluctuations On Bilirubin And HDL Levels

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Jun 2015
Question: Hello,

I'm 30 years old, and in December of 2014 I bought life insurance and had a blood panel done. All numbers came back within normal ranges.

Last week, May 12th I had a physical and my Bilirubin was elevated to 1.7 (Previously 1.2) and my HDL had dropped 19 points, 53 to 34.

Are the differences in my Bilirubin and HDL ranges something that can fluctuate that much? Or should I be worried about my liver acting up? (All other liver test came back in the normal range)

I do have a history of binge drinking on the weekends-- which has lessened over the years, but worried my liver may have some long term affects.

Brief Answer:
Not worrying results

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.
1.2-1.7 elevation is not significant for bilirubin especially if other liver markers are fine so you dont need to be worried about liver damage. HDL change is also not worrying and it may fluctuate form day to day. So I suggest just to repeat tests in 3-4 weeks, avoid excessive alcohol and fatty food and everything will be fine. WIsh you good health. Regards
