Suggest Treatment For Flu, Fever And Cough

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Mar 2017
Question: I been sick since this past Tuesday. I ignored the symptom of flu. I had a doctor's appointment that day, I got home with a chill. I completely ignore the chills and the next day I went for another doctor's appointment, same thing I had chills and so very tired and I started coughing. I do not have any medications for the flu, so I called my daughter I did not have any medication for three days. I have so much phlegm and when I blow my nose it was bloody, both nostrils were bloody until this morning Friday. I've coughing with a fever, so I don't know if it is pneumonia, I am an elderly, I am seventy and I never experience having pneumonia. What worries me is the fever and coughing if you ask me what the temperature I'll tell you I don't know, I'm pretty hot with the chills, cause I had the fever again this morning, right now I am sweating.

Brief Answer:
you should see a doctor...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I've read about your symptoms and there is indeed some risk for pneumonia. Fever and cough always raise suspicion for it. The only way to know is by being examined or by having an X-ray. Runny and stuffy nose is against pneumonia but can't exclude it. Patients with bacterial pneumonia commonly have rigor (excessive shivering with rattling teeth). Sometimes shortness of breath may occur and perhaps also painful breathing particularly with deep breaths. Blood in the nostrils is usually attributed to repeated blowing and it's not a serious concern in most cases.

Your doctor may detect pneumonia with auscultation of the chest. If there is enough suspicion without auscultatory findings, a chest X-ray may be ordered. Oxygen saturation and certain blood tests may provide additional clues as to the diagnosis but also to the prognosis.

I didn't understand whether you've visited a doctor for this so far but if you haven't done so already, you should!

I hope you find my comments helpful!
Kind Regards!
