Question: Hi Docs,
My daughter is 2 years old and she is suffering from fever from past 5 days she is suffering from fever. The fever shooted up to 104.3 F. We consulted our doctor and she recomended that its because of sore throat and prescribed her antibiotics. Following are the medicines that are prescribed

1. Ibugesic Plus
2. Secef
3. Enterobiotic

The fever was repeating after every 3 hours so we were repeating ibugesic - meftal p alternatively after every 3 hours. Moreover we have got her blood test done for dengune and complete blood test , which seems to be normal.

On forth day of medication her the fever has gone down ,but on 5th day she has developed red rashes all over the body.

What should be the cause of these rashes.
Dr said that if she had fever we need to do typhoid test but she is NT having fever..only rashes and diarrhea.

Brief Answer:
Looks like viral illness

Detailed Answer:
Hi... I think with fever gradually settling in 5 days and culminating in rash, it should be a viral illness.

If your kid is normal in between fever episodes in a single day...I don't think you should worry as its only 3rd day of fever.

Danger signs include breathlessness/ severe rash/ low urine output/ seizures/ unconsciousness/ blood in motion. Don't worry if these are not there & the kid is active.

I personally would not suggest a NSAID like Ibuprofen (Ibugesic) or Mefenamic acid (Meftal-P) being used, just to control fever. No need for antibiotics either.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. Happy to help anytime. Further clarifications and consultations on Health Care Magic are welcome.

Thank you very much Dr. But Dr has suggested to continue Secef for 5 more days yesterday.
Will her rashes go automatically in sometime.

She is still having motions with abdomen pain, what cud be the reason as during her visit to Dr ,she said that my daughter is suffering from.stomachinfection.

Brief Answer:
I still feel your kid doesn't need antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
Hi....this is my personal opinion. So many infections like throat infection, typhoid and stomach infection cannot go on simultaneously in a single individual. This is clear logic sir.

Yes, her rashes will go off automatically. Usually viral rashes will go off automatically. But I would be happy if you can upload an image of the rashes in this website.

Loose stools could as well be due to antibiotic - this is called antibiotic associated diarrhea. She might require probiotics with saccharomyces boulardii.

Definitely Dr I will upload the pic by tomorrow morning. We haven't done typhoid testing yet as she us not having fever now. She was given some probiotic for first five days.
Her WBC count is 5300 which Dr was saying is low.

Brief Answer:
No fever - no need for typhoid testing

Detailed Answer:
Hi...low counts are suggestive of viral illness. I will see the picture you upload and guide you accordingly.

I suggest you include the palms and soles too in the images.
No fever, no need for typhoid testing as of now.
