Suggest Treatment For Fever, Body Pains And Rash On Face

Posted on Mon, 6 Apr 2015
Question: My 3.5 yr old daughter is having flu-like symptoms. Fever topping at 103.9, back down to 100.6 since given Tylenol. Her main complaints are body aches and her forehead hurting. She has a very slight, not raised, rash on her face that look like just two pink lines that do curve and meet. At first I thought it was an imprint left from the ice pack on her face but has remained all day. I can't match it with anything I've googled. Her appetite isn't normal but better than expected with such a high fever and she's drinking so much water and peppermint tea that she is urinating frequently and it is clear. I am concerned that I may be over looking something and want to know what these marks are on her face.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this fever and rash that your daughter has. Fever and rash is often caused by a viral infection in children. Management is often supportive with medications to reduce the fever, helping the child eat and drink as much as possible. Symptoms generally start to get resolved within 48-72hours. I very much think this what your child has and regular tylenol every 6-8hours at a dosage recommended by her physician would address this.

To be very sure about why is going on, please kindly send and image for review so that i can also confirm that this rash is in line with my thinking and the common nature of this infection in children.

I hope this helps, I wish your daughter well. Thanks for using our services and feel fee to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thank you very much, she woke up this morning fever and rash free ready to get on with the day. I was going to send a picture this morning if it hadn't gone away, alas it is gone hopefully never to return.
