Brief Answer:
Do not worry much, give tylenol regular strength every 4 to 6 hours.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms XXXXXXX XXXX.

Thank for the query.

Based on your description of the symptoms of your son, I think he has a viral fever.

Do not panic, fever of 102.7 is not worrisome, fever will last for 4 to 5 days, during that time, taking tylenol every 4 to 6 hours will reduce the fever and pain.

Most often the fevers are cased by viral illnesses and they do not any treatment except supportive measures such as maintaining good hydration, eating healthy food regularly, bed rest for a couple of days.

Continue to give him tylenol once every 4 to 6 hours ( not to exceed a total dose of 3000 milligrams in a single day).

If there is any associated cough with sputum, pain in the abdomen, difficulty or burning/pain while passing urine, or if the pattern of fever changes and it keeps raising even with tylenol, or if he develops any neck stiffness and severe headaches with vomiting, then you should take him to the ER or your PCP.

I hope this answers your concerns, please do feel free to write back to me if you have any doubts.

Wishing your son a speedy recovery and good health.

Warm regards
