Suggest Treatment For Fever And Vomiting In A Child

default
Posted on Wed, 4 Jan 2017
Question: My 7 year old daughter has been throwing up one day a week for the last 5-6 weeks. She complains of a "tummy ache" the day before, then starts vomiting the next morning. The vomiting subsides by the afternoon and then she starts running a fever. Today is the latest episode of this cycle. I am calling her pediatrician tomorrow to make her an appointment as this is obviously not normal. I am wondering what could cause these recurring symptoms so that I know what specific questions I should ask at her appointment

Brief Answer:
Check the number of times she is passing urine.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query. It seems that your child has gastritis. It is a good idea to get an appointment from your doctor. You need to ask your doctor if treatment with Lanzol Junior (lansoprazole) once daily should suffice or whether some antiemetic like ondansetron needs to be given as well. Ask him whether he suspects an infective component. You can ask him about the present hydration status and whether giving ORS (oral rehydration solution) is needed. Ask him about the role of restriction of specific food items, and how reducing of gap between meals could help.

You can definitely improvise on what to ask.

Regards
