default
Posted on Thu, 10 Nov 2016
Question: YYYY@YYYY I have a normally healthy 18 year old who is now tired, running a fever of 101 in evening and low grade during the day. He says he feels like he's tired all the time and he also has felt dizzy and it gets worse when he is feeling worse. He's had a heartbeat of 98 - 100 and a BP that is normally 120/80 is 132/90. 130/70. He's been to the walk in clinic after one week of feeling tired and the said labs are normal and ECG is normal. We are going to to try and get in to see PCP and were wondering what are next steps?
Thank you, XXXXXXX - Ian's Mom

Brief Answer:
Upper respiratory tract infection, requires symptomatic treatment

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Welcome
I have gone through your query.
I would like to know few additional information like
Is there any associated headache, history of sinusitis, allergy?

As his investigation are normal, Most of the time this symptoms are caused by viruses and only require symptomatic treatment.
I would suggest you to take tablet ricofast plus (Paracetamol(500 mg),Pseudoephedrine(60 mg),Triprolidine(2.5 mg) ) thrice daily for three days.
Steam inhalation with few drops of eucalyptus oil in it, three to four times a day.
Drink plenty of water, especially warm water.
In the mornings one teaspoon of honey with a glass of warm water will be good.
Nasal decongestant like xylometazoline. If there is nasal congestion.
Kindly avoid air conditioned room for few days. Avoid cold food like ice cream .
Follow this measures, you should be fine.
Hope this helps
Take care
