Question: I had my bottom impacted wisdom teeth out 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Everything has been fine with them, besides the fact that half of my face is still numb ( I did see my surgeon for this and he expects a recovery within 6 months). Now Inotice that in the corner of my mouth, near the socket where the jaw closes, there is a hard lump. Ii tried pushing on it to see if there was puss and I wasn't able to move it. It is tender but normal skin colored. Should I schedule to see my surgeon? Like I said, it is not painful and as equally tender as the other side. But it does irritate me, my cheek side gum rubbing on it bothers me.

Brief Answer:
nerve injury, medication, healing by fibrosis, surgical removal

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query in details.

As far as the numbness over the face following removal of the impacted tooth is concerned, it can be due to the nerve injury while administering injection or while removing the wisdom tooth. Nothing to be panic, this numbness will reduce gradually over 6 months to one year. You can take a nerve regenerating drugs like Neurobion (Vitamin B6 and B-12).

Regarding the lump near the extracted site, this can be because of the healing of the wound by fibrosis. If it is troubling or hurting you, then consult your surgeon and get it surgically removed.

I hope I have answered your query. if you have any queries please feel free to get back to me.
