First 48 hours after the trauma, ice pack application on more swelled areas is recommended.

Your head should be elevated above body level, if you lay down and during sleep.

After 48 hours, warm procedures on bruised areas is recommended.

Drugs that can be used in such cases are Ibuprofen to reduce swelling and to control pain, local application of vitamin K cream helps in reducing the swelling and bruising too.
