Question: I have all the symptoms of type 2 diabetes and I have had them for many years. However, my blood tests never come back indicating such. I began asking docs for blood diabetic tests since I was about 40 but they always came came back negative. I did a 5 hr. glucose test and it was negative. But now, I have red blood sores on my legs and arms and they're beginning to appear on my face. I have severe heat attacks all of the time (not hot flashes), I'm still on female hormones. I am totally debilitated with had extreme fatigue and I need to sleep 11-12 hours a day/night. I am 10 to 15 lbs. overweight. I started a Nutrisystem diet two weeks ago and have lost 1 lb. The food is a much lower quality than I usually eat and it includes sweets. I've been trying to get started on a walking program but get so very tired I have NO energy and must sleep for 2-3 hours after walking 25 minutes. I continuously have dry mouth and since I started my diet I have been loosing all the urine in my bladder as soon as I stand up (I have a bladder sling). I have been emptying totally in the morning upon arising and overflow the thick pad I wear at night. Sometimes I totally overflow upon standing in my home. I recently got an eye infection in both eyes ( have dry eye to begin with) which I am now treating. I am a young 73 years old and people generally think I am in my 50's. I never felt like this before and everything seems to be way out of control. I have controlled high blood pressure I take losartan; fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue syndrome, I take Curcumin with Turmeric; I have atherosclerosis and take Life Extension nutrients; I also have Bundle Branch Block and Hiatial Hernia and mitral valve prolapse for which I take heart nutrients; peripheral neuropathy in hands and feet to name a few. I take klonopin in conjunction with doxepin at night to sleep, I am hypothyroid and take Nature-Throid. I've had these disorders since I was about 34 or so and have managed to balance all of them through exercise, nutrients and some drugs. I have tried not to take too many drugs or nutrients. I only take science based nutrients.
What can I do with all my new symptoms?

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
From the picture you attached i can see a light erythema in the face but would be better if you attach a picture of the other lesions in the hand and feet. It may be due to reumatological disease and would suggest to insist to see an internal disease specialist rather than a family physician.

First i would suggest to stop taking hormone replacement therapy, as you may know at your age they increase the risk for arteriosclerosis, breast cancer, liver damage ect.

Secondly i would suggest to check the thyroid hormones if there are more than 3 months that you haven't checked them.

Regarding to urinary incontinence, i would suggest to see an urologist as the bladder sling is not functioning any more, i do not think the incontinence you have now is related to the diet.

Hope i have been helpful.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
