Question: Hi I'm 55, and because of my ovaries were taken about 10 years ago, it jump started me into early menopase. My main problem is that I suffer excessive sweating, mainly in my head and on my face. When I was young, I did sweat alot, but I now just break out in a sweat whenever I'm stressed, positively, or negatively. My doctor has me on Progesterone Micronized 100MG and Estradiol 2MG (1 tablet for 3 weeks, then stop for a week)...my problem is not getting better...is there anything I can ask her about?

Brief Answer:
surgical menopause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
IF only both ovaries were removed and uterus is still intact then oestrogen progesterone therapy that you are on is acceptable to allow you avoid endometrial hyperplasia due to oestrogen.
These symptoms are of hot flushes due to surgical menopause. You are already on pills and hence you should opt for natural phytoestrogens in diet like flat seeds, tofu, alpha sprouts , soybean , soya milk, pulses. These shall help you recover from your symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If uterus too was removed then there is no real need to give you progesterones at all. Your serum estradiol levels should be done and if low the you can be placed on plain estradiol tabs 2mg thrice a week for 3 weeks along with phytoestrogens orally in form of natural foods which is mentioned above. Progesterones are not required when uterus has already been removed.
