Suggest Treatment For Erectile Dysfunction

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Apr 2015
Question: Hi there I am suffering from Erectile Dysfunction. When I was 12 I used to masturbate with a soft penis in a prone position. I don't seem to get morning or night erections, if I ever do they seem to be weak.

My doctor has tried me cialis 10,20, 5mg, the best results have been with the daily cialis as I feel I have less pressure. I do achieve hard erections during masturbation after a lot of simulation. However they will go away easily if I stop masturbating. So think I will fail if I try to have sex. As soon as I stand up or put condom on I feel I will lose this erection. I am not sure if this erection is '100%' however it does go really hard week after cialis.

My fear is venous leak I have read on it online and I feel I might have developed this although I have never been tested for it. My urologist didn't put me through for the test. But I will have to go back if sex fails next week.

Brief Answer:
duplex ultrasound.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

You are facing the problem of erectile dysfunction. Cialis works for you but you have to take it daily.

You do not get night-time or early morning erections.

I think the organic causes of ED are to be ruled out this case.

I would suggest you to go for duplex ultrasound.
Duplex ultrasound will evaluate penile blood flow and venous leak.

The test-results would determine the further plan of management.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to discuss further.

Thanks.

thanks for the reply

Did you say organic ED can be ruled out? Or does it need to be ruled out?

Even if it's a venous leak can it be a minor venous leak which can be treated by taking cialis?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Shubham Mehta (45 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
organic ED needs to be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Your welcome.

I mean organic ED needs to be ruled out.

In case of minor leaks, cialis has to be taken regularly. The leak might not heal but cialis will still help in erection.

But still, it would be a good idea to go for a duplex ultrasound. You would get to know the cause.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.

because i don't know if my penis is 100% erect although it's hard. Is there any harm for me or my partner to have sex with less then 100% erection?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Shubham Mehta (6 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
No harm if erection is less than '100%'.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.

Sexual intercourse should provide satisfactory pleasure and gratification to both the partners.

Technically, there is nothing like 100% erection.

Rather, both the partners should be satisfied with the sexual act with whatever percentage of erection attained.

There would not be any harm to you or your partner, if you do not attain '100%' erection.

Thanks.

I asked my urologist about drinking while on cialis. He said that although it should be done in moderation . Even if I drank more then reconnected the worse that would happen is a bad headache.

I am not planing on drinking too much, but would a few beers be fine?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Shubham Mehta (12 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
avoid excessive alcohol with cialis.

Detailed Answer:
I do not think a few beers with cialis should cause a problem.

But yes, drinking too much alcohol with cialis can increase your chances of getting a headache or getting dizzy, increasing your heart rate, or lowering your blood pressure.

Hope this helps.

Further queries are welcome.

I was also wondering about the long term use of cialis? Or is this just a short term fix? I worry if i use this all my life will it effect me me?

Maybe I should go for a non drug treatment such as a implant? Or is that exterme?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Shubham Mehta (4 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
no serious long term side effects of cialis.

Detailed Answer:
Cialis is safe in long term and there negligible serious side effects.

If needed, it can be taken for long term.

If cialis is working for you, i think you should avoid implants.

Thats why I said earlier that your test results will help to determine further course of treatment.

Thanks.

My doctor also mentioned injections to the penis, are these injections better then oral medicines?

Also is it advisable to let your partner know you are taking cialis? I haven't discussed it yet since we haven't had sex yet.
doctor
Answered by Dr. Shubham Mehta (5 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
your wish whether or not you want to share this with her.

Detailed Answer:
Injections are used if the oral medications fail.

Also, Any invasive procedure (even injecting a drug) is more risky than taking drug orally.

Its your wish whether you want to tell your partner about cialis or not.

Your cialis use will cause no health issues to your partner.

Thanks.

How about a penis pump?

Are these less effective then oral medicines? I have heard they can be effective.
doctor
Answered by Dr. Shubham Mehta (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
penis pumps are effective.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

Penis pump is a good alternate to cialis as it has many advantages like no systemic side effects, low cost, OTC availability and efficacy as good as drugs.
It can also be used along with cialis.

In my opinion, its a good option.

Thanks.

This has made me wonder why it has not been offered as a option to me by my doctor? Can it be purchased at shops? Or does the doctor need to prescribe it?

So even if I do have a mild venous leak, a penis pump could be effective?

doctor
Answered by Dr. Shubham Mehta (15 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
there are some OTC penile pumps available.

Detailed Answer:
There are some OTC penile pumps.
You do not need a prescription for them and can purchase them easily.

The pills are easy to take. You need to carry pump with you and have to apply it everytime. This might be cumbersome for some people. May be thats why your doctor did not advised you the pumps.

Yeah, it should work even in case of mild venous leak.

But it would be a good idea to first use it under doctor's supervision.

Thanks.
