Question: I AM A MALE OF WEIGHT OF 57 KGS. MY HEIGHT IS 5"3'(160CM.)..I HAVE HEPATOMEGALY AND SPLINOMEGALY DIAGONOSED BY USG..MY HEMOGLOBIN LEVEL IS ONLY 8.1.. DOCTOR HAS PRESCRIBED ME IRENTIA-PLUS(AFTER LUNCH) AND GOLBI 300(BD) AND FOL 5(AFTER DINNER)..IS IT OK FOR ME? OR, I SHOULD TAKE ANY OTHER MEDICATION..I USED TO DRINK 3 TIMES IN A WEEK..CAN I CONTINUE WITH THAT? PLEASE, GUIDE ME..

Yes. At lft unconjucated bilirubin shows little bit high. Doctors told, it's XXXXXXX & told to lead normal life..it's 5 years back..endoscopy report also reveals hepatomegaly,spleenomegaly & no such other complications..I have no jaundice..doctors told it's XXXXXXX syndrome & suggested- golbi 300, irentia plus & fol 5..told as i have less hemoglobin level due to spleen problem..but, i have still abdominal discomfort and lots of weakness. Loss of appetite also..please, suggest medicine..

Since you have low hemoglobin and also having enlarged liver and spleen, more tests are to be done before treatment plan is finalized. The following tests are to be done - 1. Peripheral blood smear test 2. Reticulocyte count 3. Upper GI endoscopy 4. Portal vein doppler scan 5. Stool routine test and occult blood test. You can consult your physician for these tests.
