Suggest Treatment For Endometriosis

Posted on Tue, 2 Sep 2014
Question: I have undergone laproscopic surgery in my left ovary last november for endometriosis. I have had grade 4 adhesions. I have taken lupron injection of 350 mg after my first periods of surgery. Later I have asked to take dronis 20 for 30 days which i continued for 3 months. During my course of taking medication, my periods bleeding has done less with no pain. But I had got severe abdominal pain after my second periods when taking dronis. when I have taken scan, it showed the cyst formed again in my both ovaries. When I went to visit doctor, she gave me lupron injection again and asked me to take anti-estrogen tablet(non-hormonal,forgot the tab name) for 15 days. Later I have gone for second opinion with other gynecologist, she prescribed me danogen 200mg for 2 times a day. Last month I took a scan and blood check up for myself, it is found there is no endometriosis. But I am still continuing with danogen 200 mg twice a day. I am going to get married coming November. Will this problem affects me from getting pregnant? I am scared of this issue.

Brief Answer:
Impossible to predict exact future effect.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

It seems that you have had advanced stage endometriosis and got operated for it. Now you want to know about the furture prospects.

The best remedy for endometriosis is pregnancy. So if pregnancy occurs the disease remits and in many cases may get cured also. However many women with this issue have problems in concieving due to the adhesions. So we strongly recommend that you do not use any contraceptive and attempt conception as soon as possible.

How much it will cause a problem cannot be predicted. Some women are lucky and conceive early. If surgeries have been successful then usually women do conceive.

You will need to stop danazol before attempting pregnancy. It takes 60-90 days for normal periods to resume after stopping danazol.

Do not feel scared. Many women have this problem and they do concieve. So it is not a big issue in todays modern world.

Just attempt pregnancy as soon as possible and once your are pregnant the disease will remit.
Best of luck.
Hope this satisfies your query.

I had my periods and it was bleeding for 10 days last month. Later only i took a scan and found there is no endometrisis. Would that mean it is fine now or endometriosis will form again once I stop danogen. Nowadays I am having spotting (little bleeding)everyday, abdominal pain, having mood swing, feeling irritated and joint pain. Will i reach menopause soon because i had cyst in my ovary? can i have normal intercourse with my partner? Is there any food should i be taken or not to b taken?

Brief Answer:
no particular food

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

Regarding recovery from endometriosis. About a 30% of women recover, 30% have milder form of disease and 30% have same symptoms. So we cannot say how it will behave. But if the cysts and symptoms have gone then chances of recovery are good. About the mood swings and all, attributed to danazol. They will most likely go away after stopping the drug.

About sexual contact, with active lesions, most of the time there is pain during contact. With healed lesions these chances are less.

About menopause: Women with endometriosis do not experience menopause earlier. Some of them may need a hysterectomy for severe symptoms and then menopause results which is called surgical menopause.

There is no relation to food as such. Just keep your weight under control and exercise regulary that is all.

Hope this helped.

Feel free for any more queries.

Do not worry just try for pregnancy and the disease will disappear.

Brief Answer:
regression is due to dronis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back,

The decrease in breast size is due to dronis. It occurs due to its anti estrogenic effects.
So this may regress once the dronis is stopped.

Add protein to your diet and it will help in regaining the breast size.

Do not worry about this so much.

Hope this helps you.
Take care.
