Suggest Treatment For Eczema On Face Of A Child

default
Posted on Mon, 18 Jan 2016
Question: Dear Doctor,

This is continuation of my earlier query about my 1.5 month old daughter. I had shared some of the pics earlier with you of her face and you had mentioned that it is Eczema but nothing serious. I have shot some recent pics of her face and would like to share it with you for your comments and inputs. I hope this is nothing serious, please can you re-confirm the same as her face looks very serious to me now. Also I hope this is not Psoriasis, kindly confirm the same.

We also visted a local doctor and he had suggested a lotion called Cetaphil and atoride Gel for facial application.

Kind Regards

Brief Answer:
Not serious but hard to get rid of.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking back again on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and have checked the attached images. Indeed your child seems to have eczema and the doctor has done the right thing in prescribing cetaphil and atoride. The problem is that eczema, although not a life threatening condition, can be hard to get rid of.

Let me know if I could help further.

Thanks Doctor.

We have started Cetaphil for the baby. Please can you suggest how much times does it takes to get cured with Eczema?

We also noticed that these are all over his body.

Kind Regards

Brief Answer:
As I mentioned, cure is hard to achieve.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Cetaphil is nothing but a moisturizing lotion. It will not cure eczema but help in keeping it in control. Apply it multiple times a day (may be thrice or four times a day) over all the affected areas. That will exert a soothing effect and also keep the ailment in control.

You may give some antiallergic like cetirizine along. Give it off and on for a few days when the condition aggravates.

Regards
