Suggest Treatment For Ectopic Beats And Heart Palpitations

Question: Hi doctor i have been having Etopic beats and palpitations over the past year. I had all cardiac testing done and my echocardiogram showed a structurally normal heart with some trace regurgitation in 3 areas. I passed both stress tests i had and i also had 2 48 hour holters. The first last year showed 925 PACS in 48 hours including 2 bigemy cycles and 3 couplets. The most recent holter showed 400 single PACS over 48 hours and 15 pvcs. I saw 2 separate cardiologists and both insist my heart is very healthy and that anxiety is at the root of the problem. However why do i get these symptoms when i am calm before bed and in the morning when i wake up. Also if my heart is healthy whey am i getting these symptoms. My doctor says my heart is healthy and these etopics have a different etiology that is not originating from my heart. I dont understand what this means.

Also this morning i noticed a few etopics and then i had tacycardia. Can PACS trigger this or this from anxiety about feeling the etopics?

Brief Answer:
You need winning strategies against anxiety.

Detailed Answer:

Hello dear XXXX!

As I have reviewed your medical history several times, and have discussed with you about your complains each time, I would like to explain that your symptoms of palpitations, ectopic beats and bouts of sinus tachycardia, and other associated symptoms like unpleasant abdominal discomfort, etc. will continue to occur repeatedly, as long as you will not control your main enemy.

That is anxiety!

Anxiety is characterized by a disproportionate increased level of alertness, sensibility and body reactivity, irrespective the absence of any triggering factors.

There is no need for any prodromal signs, anxiety comes even when you are completely calm, and your thoughts are running elsewhere.

Anxiety may dominate more easily your mind and your heart in the absence of other important stimuli, such as when you are lying calm to bed, or waking up in the morning.

As the heart is the central organ supplying the whole body function, it reacts that way, when your body is abnormally and unexpectedly set up at a high level of alertness, as it is highly interconnected through neural endings and chemical mediators.

So, I would advise you to start thinking seriously about finding winning strategies against anxiety.

Hope to have been helpful for you!

Best wishes! Dr. Iliri

Hi doctor thank you for your response. I am taking the anxiety very seriously. In addition to cbt, I have begun a program called HOPE AND HELP FOR YOUR NERVES by doctor XXXXXXX weeks.

I have one final question. Is it normal for sexual intercourse to bring on arythmia or irregular heartbeat? I noticed that my heart goes fast and also very slow during intercourse. Sometimes while having an orgasm my heart will race very fast 165 bpm. It's the slow beats during sex that terrify me

Brief Answer:
Heart rate variation is normal during sexual intercourse.

Detailed Answer:

Hello XXXX!

Regarding your fast heart rate during intercourse, I would explain that it is a normal heart reaction.

From the other side, when discussing slow heart rate, precise medical data are necessary. It is important to notice when this slow heart rate happens, and what is the exact HR value. Probably a Holter monitoring is necessary to cover the period during intercourse.

Hi doctor. Can this slow heart beat be something dangerous? It feels like around 52 bpm I don't know why it does this. I don't feel weak or lightheaded it just feels different so I check my pulse and I can feel it slow down for a certain number of beats then speed up. Then when it comes time to orgasm I get really fast palpitations until 1 or 2 minutes pass
