Question: Please advise if it is abnormal for a teenage girl to have a normal cycle for a week and then a few days later, start some heavy spotting. There was no cramping during the spotting days.

I am so sorry to hear about this change in your menstrual cycle and all the inconveniences this has caused you. For a teenage girl, this is common beacue the hormonal control is still not very mature and changes in cycle are very common. Almost all women do experience some sort of similar changes during their teenage years. There is no reason to be scared, stay cal, relax and monitor only. Unless something else comes up, there is no need for further aggressive medical attention. However, we may need to use hormonal pills for corrections if this becomes problematic.
