Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough
Question: hello doctor I have 4 year old son for last 2 days he was having cold started with sneezing and at night too much mouth watering now he is coughing
...coughing with cracking sound....last month he was digonised with asthmatic wheezing with some infection so doctor given antibiotic with wheezing medicine.....but now again he started cold and cough but cough is different from that time....I am given cetrizine for last 3 days and dry cough given only last night syrup.......pls suggest any medicine ..or home remedy...

Hi....for dry cough you can use Phenergan as he's is above 3 years old.
You can give syrup Phenergan at 5 ml twice a day for 3 days.
If there is fever - Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose (maximum ceiling dose of 500mg) every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.
But if the call doesn't settle in another 3 days or if he develops fast breathing and respiratory distress I suggest you consult your pediatrician to check if there is any reason.
