Suggest Treatment For Dizziness And Vomiting
Question: My father is 74 yrs old. he had gone redo by-pass (open heart) surgery in 1994 and 1999.
since last two weeks he is suffering from head swirls and blood in left year. Today morning he had head swirl and vomiting...
he is taking Vertim 8mg tablet since last two weeks.
please advise further course of action and the possible couse..

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that your father is having blood in the ear with head swirls . I would like to ask you few more details.
Is his dizzy spells are episodic or continuous ?
Is he on tab. ecosprin ?

Based on your clinical details, it appears to be drug induced (ecosprin, clopilet).
Post CABG (CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS SURGERY), most of the patients will be on blood thinners to prevent clotting (to prevent re infearction (M.I) ).
Dizziness could be due to hypo tension secondary to bleeding or electrolyte imbalance.
I suggest you to consult ent surgeon, get otoscopy (status of ear drum), blood tests (PT,APTT, INR), Hemoglobin percentage and serum electrolytes. Depending on the findings, your medications can be stopped for a while or dosage can be reduced.
Mean time, just plug the the ear canal with dry cotton (to prevent soling and water entry during bath- to prevent infection).

a. Atocor 10 mg
b. Dilzen CD 120 mg

Moreover, I am planning to visit Appllo Hospital XXXXXXX to further routine follow-ups as all the previous treatment and the CABG has been done their.
Please advise how serious or complicate problem is this?

It's a common issue with the patients, who are on blood thinners. Do not worry, it will stop. Have a followup with your treating cardiologist/cardiac surgeon for the tit ration of dosage of these medications.
