Suggest Treatment For Dizziness And Sinus Infection

Question: Yes, thank you
My husband has been lightheaded for months. He does not experience full blown dizziness. He has been seen several times by an ENT and treated for a sinus infection which is passed. They have also done a Ct and MRI. He is now seeing a cardiologist and has had an echo, halter monitor and stress test. He seems to be ok when sitting and staying focused but the slightest movement of his head starts the problem. He had cataract surgery in December'15 and
January '16 and the eye doctor feels nothing is unusual. He also has twitching of his eyelids even when they are closed, which he never had before and finds very bothersome. He has been on Xanex for a number of years for anxiety and sleeplessness. He says it feels like his brain is loose in his head!
Do you have any ideas as to the problem and can you direct us as to what field of expertise we should be looking for a physician.

Brief Answer:
Possible Xanax related lightheadedness

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam

I can certainly understand your concern.

I have worked through your query in detail.

The possibility of drug related drowsiness and sedation might be the chief cause in his case.

Xanax has its cumulative side effects over a time period
that can result in lightheadedness.

Since CT and MRI are normal, you need not worry much as organic causes are ruled out.

PSVT well controlled by Metoprolol and Lisinopril will not cause lightheadedness.

The postural variation of lightheadedness might be drug related.

Therefore, before planning for OT, it's advisable to taper Xanax over 2 weeks in order to find out the response.

Further management if any( institution of antivertigo agents) is based after this trial.

Post your further questions if any.
Thank you
