Posted on Wed, 17 Feb 2016
Question: a few different times when I would get up in the night I would feel a little dizzy for just a second. the last night I only did a few exercises on the floor and kind of jumped up and was really dizzy and a little nausea. Then every time I would get up in the night I would feel dizzy, also one time when I looked at the clock the numbers were going up and down. today I feel ok. If this helps I have migraines, arthritis and fibromyalgia!

Brief Answer:
Postural ( orthostatic ) hypotension.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

It is probably postural hypotension, or lowering of blood pressure from changing body position ( from laying or sitting to standing ) that is causing your dizziness.

It is not a condition related to your other health issues.

There is need for measurement of your blood pressure in laying and standing position to confirm this possibility as a cause of your symptoms.

Getting up slowly ( 5 minutes sitting from laying ), staying well hydrated helps in avoiding it.

If changes between laying and standing blood pressure more than 20 mmHg, further evaluation ( cardiac work up, tilt table test ) is needed to understand better your health situation.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Feel free to ask if anything not clear.

Greetings.
