Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Urination

Question: Straining to urinate, no pain. Male age 30.

For the past 5 weeks I have been straining to urinate with dribbling and minor back pain once in awhile. I went to a urologist and the urinalysis, dre, and ultrasound all came back normal. The urologist told me it's probably from high amounts if stress. Is there anything else that could cause this? I'm thinking maybe I have a mild firm of prostatitis.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to narrowing of urethra(Stricture)

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have to strain while passing urine .

This is most likely to be due to narrowing of urethra (Stricture Urethra) or Bladder Neck Dysynergia.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have pain in perineal region?
2) Did you have unprotected sex before you started getting this symptom?
3) Do you have any other urinary symptom like burning urination, increased frequency, urgency etc apart from straining to pass urine .

Since your ultrasound ,Digital Rectal examination and urine analysis is normal this is most likely to be due to Stricture urethra .This can be confirmed only by a radiological test called as Retrograde Urethro Cystogram .

Please get this done to confirm the diagnosis.Further treatment will depend upon result of this test and final diagnosis.

In the mean while take Tomsulosin once daily .

Hope I have answered your query. Please feel free to write if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards .

Thanks for answering my question.

1. No pain in the perineal region.
2. No.
3. I do have urgency.

The urologist told me it could be due to over-masturbation which could have inflamed the prostate which I have stopped "cold turkey."
