Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Conceiving

Posted on Wed, 12 Oct 2016
Question: Hi There,

I have a son 6 years old.. however since last 3-4 years we are trying for a second baby and were not successful. Thinking if we should go for IUI or any other ways for conceive.

My wife had a dermoid/cyst in the right ovary and due to which we had to operate and she lost her one ovary.. since then we were not successful, however her monthly periods are very prompt and on time.

Can I talk to someone and take guidance?

Thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
IVF is better option

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns about infertility.

Considering one ovary and age I suggest it is better to go ahead with IVF (testtube baby) at the earliest to have a baby.

This is due to following reasons :

1) One ovary means 50% chance of pregnancy.

2) Previous surgery leads to adhesions in abdomen which makes egg to travel through fallopian tube normally.

3) Chance pregnancy and egg reserve reduces after 30 years which I see in your situation.

4) Not conceiving for past 4 years means there is some underlying problem not identified.

I suggest IVF is better option going forward.
